Plastic Felt

TT Plastic Felt is a durable and versatile waterproofing material made from high-quality plastic felt with a multi-layer composite structure for superior performance. It features a robust plastic film layer combined with a self-adhesive polymer and a unique reinforcement layer for enhanced strength and reliability. Designed specifically for waterproofing underground structures, this material is ideal for applications in basements, foundations, and other subgrade environments. Unlike traditional waterproofing systems, TT Plastic Felt creates a strong bond with wet concrete during the construction process, forming a seamless, monolithic layer that integrates with the structure. This advanced bonding prevents water ingress and eliminates the risk of water tracking between the membrane and the structure, ensuring long-lasting, reliable waterproofing protection.

The application temperature should be between 50C to 450C. Application procedures may vary slightly depending upon the conditions. The general recommended guidelines for the application of the waterproofing system are as follows:

SURFACE PREPARATION

The surface shall be cleaned thoroughly of all contaminants like dust, traces of curing compound, oil and grease. All surface imperfections and protrusions shall be removed and repaired.

PRIMING, Aligning &Sealing

  • Apply a bituminous primer @0.3 lit/sqm (Torchtar Bitumen Primer | Product Code: 5200) to the concrete substrate by a brush, roller or a spray machine.
  • Apply coat of Torchtar Bitumen 85/25 or 90/15 is coated on the surface @ 1.2kg/sqm.
  • Align the membrane on the substrate by unrolling the membrane maintaining the overlap of 80mm for the side and 150 mm at the ends. Seal the overlaps properly with hot bitumen.
  • The Membranes should be laid in a staggered manner so that the seams are not in a line. All the details at edges, parapet walls, pipe penetrations etc. should also be sealed with extra care to ensure full bondage.
  • Membrane shall be terminated at the top of parapet if the height pf parapet is upto 500 mm. In case the height of the parapet is above 500 mm, membrane should be terminated at parapet in a groove 50 x 40 mm at parapet at a height of 300 mm from the roof level.
  • The membrane applied over the terrace, must be finished with a coating of aluminium paint (Torchtar Aluminium Paint | Product Code: 5200) for non-foot traffic area. For foot trafficked area, overlay with concrete screed mortar.

Precautions

Do not over torch the membrane as this will expose the reinforcement and cause damage to it.

• Avoid contact with skin / eyes, and avoid swallowing.

• Ensure adequate ventilation and avoid inhalation of vapour.

• Wear suitable protective clothing, gloves and eye protection.

• In case of skin contact, rinse with plenty of clean water, then cleanse with soap and

water. Do not use solvent to clean the contacted area.

• In case of eye contact, wash with plenty of clean water and seek medical advice.

• If swallowed, seek medical attention immediately. Do not induce vomiting.
